This Yamaha YHR-881 descant horn is quite the instrument. It is in excellent used condition, plays extremely smoothly and has a gorgeous sound. It really is a joy to play! It has been professionally inspected and tested in my shop, and is ready for professional use.
This horn is unlacquered, and features a stopping valve along with the normal Bb/F-alto setup of a descant horn. There is a main tuning slide on the Bb side, and the leadpipe is also tunable. The design of this horn features a tall rotary valve in the center of the horn for the change valve.
The valves on this horn are amazing. The action is very light and fast. The change valve trigger has had a piece professionally soldered on by Dr. John Ericson, the professor of horn at ASU and also one of the owners/writers of hornmatters.com. It looks and works very nice and makes the horn a good deal more comfortable to hold.
This horn comes with its original Yamaha case in excellent used condition. No mouthpiece is included. In the playtest video I used a Houser SF 14-0-2 that worked great.
