This Conn 8D is a good playing, solid double horn. It has a very nice sound, the notes all slot easily. It has a nice soft end, powerful loud end, and all of the registers speak well on this horn.

I did pretty extensive work to this horn in my shop as a personal project over the last few months. The lacquer was stripped, the old handguard replaced, dents removed (thanks to a friend for loaning me his bell tail dent tools), and I also replaced the leadpipe with a much better playing modern 8D leadpipe. I think this leadpipe is one of the ones we have heard are CNC machined at the Conn factory, but I do not know what horn it came off of. I simply know that I tested quite a few 8D leadpipes on this horn, and this was the one that by far made it play the best. It has excellent response and quite a nice sound.

This horn has been completely cleaned and serviced in my shop. The slides all work well, and the valves are perfectly aligned with new bumpers and strings. This is a great horn that will serve someone well!

Please note that the valves on this horn do still have enough compression to play well without heavier oil, but I would recommend that players use heavier valve oil on these valves because the compression is getting low.

This horn comes with a vintage Conn case in good used condition. No mouthpiece is included.
