A video description and demonstration of this horn can be seen here.
This is a really cool little descant. It is a compensating descant made by the Mirafone company. I don't think this horn has seen much if any use at all. There are almost no signs of use. There are only a few very minor spots of lacquer wear, and only one minor bump in the bell flare. The bell is a two-piece hand hammered bell and the German construction of this horn is fantastic.
This horn plays and sounds great. It has a very smooth sound. This horn will make a great addition to any players collection. Some musicians may want this horn for high horn parts like the Bach Brandenburg concertos.
This is a compensating descant. Basically, this means that the second set of slides is used to put the horn in Bb, and the top set of slides is F alto. The air goes through both sets of slides for Bb, and the lower set of slides are blocked off for F alto. This is also described in the video, and may be better understood there.
This horn comes with the original case in excellent condition. No mouthpiece is included. If you are going to purchase a mouthpiece, I suggest you read Dr. John Ericson's article on finding a descant horn mouthpiece.
