It is becoming hard to find original, pretty well unmodified Elkhart Conn 8Ds anymore. But this one is just that, and it is in great shape! The metal is not thin, the original bell is in great shape, the valves have good compression, and the original lacquer is still 95% intact! And on top of all that, the horn plays like a dream! This is all that you would expect from a classic Elkhart Conn 8D.
This horn is very comfortable to hold - the Moosewood handstrap that has been installed (and comes on the horn) removes the need for a pinky hook. The pinky hook has been removed from the horn. The hand grip feels larger than many horns, but is not too large to manage.
As a used horn, there are some cosmetic imperfections, as would be expected. There are a few minor dents and dings and scratches in the lacquer. But none are major, and there is no evidence of major damage happening to this horn at any point in its life.
Included is a nice soft case. No mouthpiece is included, but a standard (eg. something like a Holton Farkas mouthpiece) can be included upon request.
