This is a great Conn 8D double horn! While not all Abeline-made horns are great, this particular horn really is a great player and I can certainly recommend it as a good instrument. It's valves are still in great shape with excellent compression, the lacquer is in good shape for the age of the horn (only the normal wear that you would expect from a used horn), and the horn plays beautifully. It has great slurring capabilities, and tremendous power overall.
There are only minor dings throughout, and no major dents in the horn. The lacquer has a little wear in the normal spots (where the hands hold the horn for instance), but nothing bad for the age of the horn.
This horn would serve many different types of players well. It would make a great horn for any pre-college student (as long as the student has somewhat sizeable hands), but it could also make a good horn for any college student (including college majors), community players, semi-pro players, or even a good backup horn for a professional. This is a great horn overall, and if you are looking for a horn on a tighter budget, this is certainly one worth considering!
This horn is clean, the valves are perfectly aligned, and all slides and valves work as intended.
The serial number is GF94010, which dates the horn at 1979.
Included is what I believe is the original Conn case in good used condition. No mouthpiece is included.
