This Conn 8D (SN: 618435) is a great player. It has had a full rebuild from Chuck Ward, the Conn 8D and brass restoration wizard, and is ready for a new life. It has a huge, warm, rich sound as would be expected from a vintage 8D. It is very smooth and even playing in all registers and is a great player. A screw bell and two Amado water keys have been installed, and this horn is ready for its new home.
Of course, since this horn is so old, it has seen a lot of use over the years. The bell has been replaced with an N-series bell (off a "transition" horn), Chuck had to install a couple of patches (one on the bell branch just before the bell tail, one on the tube next to the left thumb). Several of the slides had to be replaced as well. But even though so much work had to be done, this horn still has the heart and soul of a vintage Elkhart horn and is a fantastic instrument!
Included is a brand new ProTec ProPac case.
